New Webby Recognitions for “Creators,” Expanded Categories for Video & Film, and Introducing “Brand of the Year” Recognition Targeting the Industry’s Most Innovative and Groundbreaking Work
NEW YORK, September 10, 2024 — Hailed as “the Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, the premier award celebrating Internet excellence, launched its 29th Annual Call for Entries today, introducing a slate of new judges to review and select the industry’s most innovative work. The early entry deadline to submit work across Websites and Mobile Sites; Video & Film; Advertising, Media & PR; Apps and Software; Social; Podcasts; AI, Immersive & Games and Creators is Friday, October 25, 2024.
Now in its 29th year, The Webby Awards continues to expand the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences to include the most esteemed and talented experts in their fields, across entertainment, advertising, media, and technology sectors. Newest members of the Academy judging panel include Amelia Dimoldenberg, Comedian, Producer, and Creator of the notorious “Chicken Shop Date” series; Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi; Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation; Nick Digiovanni, Chef and Creator; Shannon Sharpe, Sports Analyst & Podcaster; Christoph Becker, Chief Creative Officer of Whalar; Amber Guild, CEO of McCann New York; Victoria Lozano, CMO of Crayola; Jaime Teevan, Chief Scientist at Microsoft; and Cara Cusumano, Festival Director of The Tribeca Film Festival.

This year, The Webby Awards is launching a dedicated suite of recognitions under “Creators,” aimed at this new generation of content creators across all mediums: long and short, filmed and recorded, written and published, live-streamed and influenced. These awards will highlight the creator community that has led a new era for the Internet. New categories include: Art, Design & Culture; Business; Comedy; Fashion & Beauty; Food & Drink; Gaming; Home; Lifestyle; Sports; and Creator Excellence honors, such as Best Brand Endorsement, Best Community Engagement, and Best Editing.
Recognizing the global impact of digital video and film, The Webby Awards will also be expanding their ‘Video & Film’ category, introducing new categories to celebrate the filmmaking and producing community online. These new categories will honor video, film, series, limited series, and specials. New categories include: Independent Short Film; Series & Channels honors, such as Scripted, Sports, Interview, Talk & After Show; and Limited Series & Special honors including Documentary; Comedy & Stand-up; Events & Live Comedy & Stand-up; and more.
Each year, the Webby Awards honors a select group of visionaries with ‘Of The Year’ recognitions for their exceptional contributions across the Internet. To celebrate culture defining brand work, we’re introducing the inaugural Brand of the Year award. The brand with the most success across the competition will receive this Special Achievement award.

In 2023, The Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 70 countries worldwide, capping off the biggest celebration of the innovators, entertainers, and visionaries on the Internet last year. All entrants compete for The Webby Award (as voted on by IADAS) and The Webby People’s Voice Award (as voted on by fans).
