A 5-Word Speech is the hallmark of the Webby Awards. Annually, Winners from around the world share their speeches both online and on the Webbys stage. Crafting a great speech with just five words is no easy feat, and you might need a little help.

That’s where your fans and followers come in.

Engage your community around your win, and earn a chance to deliver your speech on stage at The Webby Awards by joining the 5-Word Speech Challenge!

On Friday, May 2nd, we’re calling all 2025 Webby Winners to ask fans and the online public to help craft their speech during the 5-Word Speech Challenge! Here’s the gist: Across your social platforms, ask fans to share their most creative ideas — the more engaging your request the better.

This is a great opportunity for community engagement, so make the most of it!

The Big Payoff: the Winner with the most engaged posts at the end of Friday, May 2nd will be invited to deliver their 5-Word Speech at the star-studded 29th Annual Webby Awards Show, hosted by Ilana Glazer on Monday, May 12th in New York City.

Some of our most iconic speeches have been crowdsourced, like 2022 Webby Winner LeVar Burton’s 5-Word Speech, “Butterfly in the sky, bitches” and 2019 Webby Winner Mr. Wash’s five words, “Enough. In the past, Webby Winners like Kim Kardashian, The Simpsons, Pod Save the People’s DeRay Mckesson, David Harbour, Mueller, She Wrote, And That’s Why We Drink, and more have participated.
